In a time long ago, when animals could talk

There were some who could only wriggle, not walk

Said a kindly old man with a nice bushy beard

To the boa constrictor, please don't be afeared

I'd like to invite both you and your wife

To a trip on my boat which is cosy and nice

Said the snake, thank you kindly but if it's all the same

With you, we'll decline, as it's looking like rain

Please yourself said the old man, to that ungrateful boa
