A POEM ABOUT A STREET PARTY TO CELEBRATE THE DECLARATION OF WAR.
Hooray for our street, we're having a party
Banners and bunting, drinking and dancing
Hooray for King George and and a jolly good time
Hooray for France and the Maginot line
Blustering bullies we British won't stand
Who invade little countries and stamp on their land
Bravo Belgium, bravo France
The Kaiser's hordes didn't give you a chance
So-
Hoorah for the war, hoorah for the war
Bigger and better than ever before
Hoorah for our lads who'll be going abroad
Hoorah for the day the British lion roared
All over the world there's celebrations
For a tide has arrived in the affairs of nations
It'll be the best war the World's ever seen
August 4th. 1914.
