Church Parade

CHURCH PARADE

Church Parade, Church Parade

Tea and toast and marmalade.

Off to church, we're marching proudly

Colliery brass band, playing loudly

Left right, left right,

Colourful bunting swaying and fluttering

Flying from flagpoles, gables and guttering

Union jacks are waving wildly

Children cheer as the men march by

Left, right, left, right

We're going to pray then we're going to fight

Kahki and brass, kahki and brass

Lines of military smart moustache

Marching legs, tightly squeezed

Neat puttees, ankles to knees.

Left, right, left, right

Were going to pray then we're going to fight

All Brassoed and Blanchoed and smartly turned out

That God's on our side, we've no reason to doubt

We're Christian men and we firmly believe

That we shouldn't leave the French in the lurch

We'll knock the Kaiser off his perch

So it's bayonet drill then off to church

Bayonet drill then off to church

Bayonet drill then off to church
